When taking out the trash today, I noticed that the flowers at the front of my house are finally starting to bloom. Yay! Don’t you love this time of year, when you can just step outside, and see stamping inspiration all around you? Seeing my yard in bloom inspired me to make this cheery card, with the Falling Flowers stamp set and the coordinating May Flowers dies.
This collection was a gift from one of my dearest friends. Aren’t the flowers — and that budding, swirly stem — gorgeous? Now don’t laugh, but I was so touched by this gift, that I could barely bring myself to use it! But today, somehow, it just felt ‘right’.
How I Made This Card
I really love how the flowers in my yard look growing up against the house. So to replicate that look somewhat, I stamped the images in Basic Gray ink on one of the papers from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper pack.
Wood Textures has turned out to be one of my favorite paper packs, because all of the patterns coordinate with pretty much any stamp, and any color. Thankfully, although many other papers are retiring this month, Wood Textures will be in the new Annual Catalogue, too!
To color the images on my card, I used colored pencils. Then, I added some stick-on dots from the Brights Enamel Shapes pack to the flower centers, just to give them a little ‘pop’.
For the card base, I used some Grapefruit Grove cardstock. Have I mentioned how much I love this new 2018-2020 In Color?!? It’s the perfect soft orange, and I’m finding it goes with so many colors you’d never expect it to!
TIP: If you love Grapefruit Grove, too, you can get both the ink pad and cardstock this month, in any of the Share What You Love Suite early release bundles.
As finishing touches for this card, I added three die-cut leaves, and some simple washi tape stripes, that I tucked slightly under the edge of the image piece. This way they almost seem to be growing off the image, which I think fits nicely with the theme of the card.
